Ever since I started this blog, I wanted to talk about Chamomile. It is for a fact my first choice as a beauty ingredient. I’m absolutely mad about it and would pick any product from the shelf for mentioning Chamomile… After the first post of my favorite chamomile products, I thought it’s time for round two of my obsession.

Johnson’s Baby Silky Sleek Shampoo with camomile| I basically use it as a makeup brush cleanser as it is very gently on the bristles of my brushes. Check out the details here.

Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy lavender chamomile body lotion| It is an ultra creamy and nourishing lotion. It contains a lot of natural ingredients and sadly has paraben. The smell is awesome, and the fact that it contains lavender is definitely a plus for me. I really love this product.

Dry Chamomile flower| Usually I get ready made chamomile tea bags, however when I ran out before grocery date, I turn to use my dried chamomile flower. Another way to use it is through a DIY Chamomile Toner. A detailed post on this last will follow shortly.

St. Ives Fresh Skin Makeup Remover & Facial Cleanser| A gentle, non drying cleanser with a cream formula that leaves the skin soft and hydrated. I’m totally in love with this stuff and unfortunately I believe that it was discontinued and I might be holding the last tube of it on this earth. I personally use it as a second cleanser as I double cleanser as I mentioned here.

For many years, my hair was in desperate need of treatment. It had no life, no shine, no volume, nothing at all. I’ve been trying plenty of high-end and drugstore treatments until I decided to go 100% natural. It took me almost 2 years of homemade work to make it alive and to prevent a setback; I needed to constantly moisturize it… This is when I made my way to Lush. Once I stepped in the shop, I asked the lady to get me the ‘No way to pronounce the name of’ hair mask and guess what?? She knew what I meant and seconds later, I had my tub for H’Suan Wen Hua, which is the Chinese God Of Hair!

Packed in its unique recyclable pot, Lush says: ‘We packed into this pot everything we know of to put condition and shine back into the hair’. So true! It is a combination of the most amazing and efficient home remedies for dry frizzy hair. Full of protein and nourishing ingredients; such as eggs, avocado, olive oil, cinnamon, bay leaves …etc. which makes it a unique hair treatment to moisturise and soften your hair. In other words, it brings life back to the dull and damaged hair.

A lot of folks don’t like the smell of this product which is organic and fresh. I could mainly pick out bay leaves and cinnamon. It’s not a pretty aroma but not the worst of all. I kinda got used to it after few times of use. I apply it once week and I’ve got to say that it worked its magic from the first application … I was impressed! The result is a healthy, shiny and detangled hair which made me skip the conditioner whenever I use the H’Suan Wen Hua.

From the down side, I’m really disappointed at the fact that it contains parabens, alcohol and sulphate. It is unquestionably a star buy and a definite hair saver however it’s pretty confusing for me if I should stick to it or kick it and up to now I’m unable to make up my mind.

Since I started using coconut oil in my skin care routine here, I became so freaking obsessed with..  And after so much reading, I’m convinced that we should have a bottle in our bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen and even in the nursery. In fact, it can be used in different ways and for different purposes as I’ve shared earlier here; however coconut oil has more surprising uses than you might think.

Bug Repellent:

Coconut oil can act as a natural bug repellent simply by mixing it with essential oils which have also been shown to repel insects such as peppermint and lemongrass.

Natural Deodorant:

The use of coconut oil keeps the sweat dousing away. For that combine one part of coconut oil, one part of baking soda, one part of corn-starch and your favourite essential oil. For quicker absorption, it is best to use it immediately following the shower and just allow some time before dressing.

Shaving Cream:

Thanks to its light weight, coconut oil is great as a shaving cream and leaves enough moisture in the skin that no lotion is needed afterward.

Natural Acne Treatment:

Coconut oil outpaced medicinal prescriptions when it comes to treating skin conditions like acne because it is naturally anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and has been proved to moisturize the skin without clogging pores.

Natural Nipple Cream:

Being a natural antimicrobial oil, nursing mothers with cracked and bleeding nipples can consider using coconut oil to help healing nipples while it is completely safe for the baby to consume.

Natural Rash Cream:

The moisturizing, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties of the coconut oil make it ideal as a natural diaper rash cream as it promotes the collagen production and sooths the baby’s skin.

Natural Toothpaste:

For a natural toothpaste, use coconut oil, adding to it a part of baking soda and few drops of peppermint essential oil.

This is another round of suggestions for coconut oil that’s just skimming the surface. It’s really amazing how one simple natural product can provide us.

I have never stashed my love for chamomile. Those who follow me must be tired of reading me raving about anything based on this great herb. I’m not new to the benefits of chamomile; my mother introduced me to it years ago through the Garnier Ultra Doux Shampooing with chamomile. It was my mum’s first choice to make my wavy curls shine. I’ve been trying since then all kind of products based on chamomile and it could only make me a true believer of its efficiency at healing and soothing the skin and hair. Here is a first round of my favorite products.

Camomile Tea: Known for its calming benefits and sedative properties, a cup of camomile infusion is always a great idea, when feeling stress or before bed. In fact it is practice that I enjoy daily. From another perspective the chamomile bags are also great for de-puffing the eyes.

The Body Shop Camomile range: Certainly it’s a big thumbs up from me for this cleansing range. I just love every item of it. You can go through my review about the sumptuous cleansing butter here. Both versions of the eye makeup removers are very efficient while the oil is working like dream in melting down all kind of makeup.

Nature’s Gate Herbal Blend Conditioner Chamomile & Lemon Verbena: It is sulfate and paraben free, made of natural herbal blend. It is a very good conditioner in restoring moisture in dry and damaged hair.

Chamomile Essential Oil: Used for multiple purposes but mainly to calm and soothe the skin, hair and body. This essential oil has tons of benefits such as hydration and blemish free to the skin, radiance and shine for the hair and natural sedative.

Known for its anti-inflammatory, calming and soothing benefits, chamomile is proven to be one of the best ingredients in skin care. My hunt of the chamomile based beauty products hasn’t reached an end yet. Stay tuned for more.

Clear mascara, isn’t the beauty product that everyone would run for. Today, I thought to stamp the reasons why every gal must keep one in their beauty arsenal.

At its basic concept, clear mascara is a hair gel that defines and separates lashes, aka mascara primer, to add some volume and give a bit of curl. However, this little beauty is a multitasker:

Brows tamer: This is my main use of the clear mascara. Either with a bit of colour or alone, for those with naturally defined archs, I wipe each side to keep my unruly brows in place.

“No Makeup” makeup look: This kind of look is prefect for beach days or even every day for some and this is when the clear mascara comes to complete the neat and finished picture.

Bottom Lashes: Mascara on the lower lash can’t be without smudging… Well not anymore, the clear mascara is the best for this.

Get some colour: As a quick fix or if you’ve got some rarely used loose shadow, try pouring some into the tube and get your own mascara mix.

Fly-aways Touch Up: A little wipe through the frizz up front the hair will keep it laid-back.

This post is especially for those ones suffering with their curly or simply frizzy hair (like mine). For quite a long time I hated it. I had all kind of thoughts on how to fix this freaking thing to have it under control instead of that electrified hair. By the way, let me give you a hint of the background; I’ve got fine wavy hair and frizzy on top… Not that bad however years back it was seriously like s*#@. How I fixed it? That’s a long story that I will talk about later. 

Every time I went to the beauty salon, I wished and prayed that my hair would remain for the rest of my life as beautiful as it looks when the beautician was finished. And of course that  never happened. The worst thing was my total conviction that I will never be able to do something about it, and will never afford all these sprays, creams and whatever it is which anyway will be wash out the next day… Gosh that was a complete nightmare until I finally found my ass savers; The John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Finishing Crème and the Frizz Ease Heat Defeat Styling Spray, which I picked just because of the countless reviews in the bloggers community raving about how awesome their products are.

I’ll start off with the Heat Defeat Styling Spray, as per my order of application. The reason why I picked this was to make sure that my hair doesn’t fry after straightening. Again, my hair was a big mess, you wouldn’t want to see it. I normally spray it all over my dry hair, just before blow drying and since I started using it, the dry ends are completely gone, my hair looks healthier and straightens with total ease and also helps it remain smooth and shiny throughout the day.

Coming up to the secret weapon finishing crème, which I think is discontinued, I have to say that I’m kicking myself for not using this wonder earlier. It is a smoothing crème meant to be used after styling your hair with a concentration on the ends. As it’s called, it’s indeed a  secret weapon, to a healthy, silky and shiny hair, giving it that salon look.. Believe me, definitely the same look§.

This crème works beautifully on immediately calming the hair, excluding that greasy feeling thanks to its lightweight formula and let’s not forget to mention the cute scent it has.  

Being so amazed about these 2 beauties, you wouldn’t believe that I never had a look at their ingredients. And to my big surprise, it contains paraben ….. What the hell??? It’s no secret I’m in love with this John Frieda combo; certainly they secured their spot in my hair care routine. However I should start looking for a ‘healthier’ products to replace it. 

I’ve had this stuff for ages now and I think I’m just beginning the second half of it. It’s dirt cheap for what you can achieve with. If it’s not for the paraben, I would highly recommend them but for those who don’t care about this part, both products are worth trying!

Argan oil is most commonly used as a skin moisturizer to hydrate and soften skin. With its high vitamin E and fatty acid content, it is the ideal product to give skin a natural boost. As i'm thirty something, I've been more aware about the anti-aging products, and I was searching around about the perfect anti-aging products, I sat once and thought, that most of the articles online would emphasize the use of a serum. Either, a vitamin C, E or a combination and this where my decision to use my argan oil as a serum came from. I simply smooth few drops into my face and neck using gentle rubbing motions as a morning and night serum as this specific oil acts as a moisturizer and anti-aging all in one for face, eyebrow, lashes and lips.

I've been suffering from dull, tight and dry skin. But since I've started using the argan oil, I would say that my skin is much much better. I can't categorize it in the dry section anymore and to be honest not in normal one as well. So basically I'm kind of the middle.... I've also added some other essentials oils to my skin care routine. To have more details, check out my upcoming post.

Argan oil is also ideal for hair and could be added to the daily routine by rubbing few drops over the palms and combing the fingers through the hair. It is proven to make hair softer, silkier and shinier. It even helps to treat split ends and tame frizzy hair. I personally use it in addition to other oils for hair thickening (Will develop this in a separate post).

This miracle oil is also a great treatment for people suffering from eczema and a protection against pregnancy stretch marks and puckered skin after birth. Its softening properties are also ideal for brittle nails, dry hands, cracked and hard skin on feet. It both moisturizes and softens skin. 

The best thing about argan oil is that I use it in its pure form and I don’t need to be spend a lot of money to buy it as an ingredient of any product.
